This video runs through how to create a watch only wallet for your Bitcoin. This allows you to securely receive Bitcoin using your mobile, without having your private keys with you. (Useful for if you have cold storage of any kind, or a hardware wallet that doesn't support mobile apps or viewing the wallet balance without the device) This video runs through using Blue Wallet (Available on iOS and Android) to create watch only wallets using Trezor (Trezor suite + web wallet), Keepkey (via Electrum, though the process is the same for any Electrum wallet) and for a Ledger Nano.

It also talks about some of the security and privacy risks, as well as the way that scammers often use watch-only wallets to trick newbies. (Basically anyone who runs in to trouble with "non-spendable" Bitcoin has been scammed this way)

---------------------

If you are new to Crypto, my suggestion is that you start with buying ~$150 worth of Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin @ Coinbase and get familiar with storing it, moving it around, etc.

For your first purcahse, just stick with CoinBase: Trading, just start with Binance: sticking with large, reputable exchanges for your first purchase (Coinbase) and first trade (Binance) you can avoid getting scammed right at the start by purchasing a non-existing coin off a scammy exchange. (You would be surprised how many people fall into this trap)

Don't have a hardware wallet?

Be safe and buy them direct from the manufacturer. (Not just through some random on eBay, Amazon, etc)

Get a Ledger: you are just starting out, I would just recommend a Ledger Nano S)
